Our Playrooms

Babies (6 weeks - 2 years)

Our baby room at the nursery is very well equipped with everything required to care for, amuse and stimulate the 9 babies we look after. Adjoining the room we have our own baby kitchen for bottle/food preparation. We also have a separate toilet and nappy changing room. The sleep area has comfortable cots with colourful bumpers and duvets which are available for daytime naps. Patio doors open onto their own baby courtyard garden designed solely for their use.  A 1:3 ratio of staff to babies applies to our under 2s and all of our staff hold childcare qualifications. 

Progression

Once your baby is walking and confidently mobile, he or she will be ready to join our more adventurous Toddler Room which cares for 15 children (two to three year olds). Parents and key-workers will make a joint decision as to the appropriate date for moving into this room.
Introductory visits and play sessions will be arranged to accustom little ones to all the new faces and routines of this playroom. You will be introduced to the staff, and in particular, your child's new key-worker.

Our Toddler Room

provides a warm, spacious and fun packed environment for all our energetic and exploring toddlers. At this stage, activities will become more structured than before. The children will follow a daily routine which incorporates opportunities to enhance learning skills. Areas in this room are divided to offer opportunities for wet and dry play. Our 3 playful staff are always on hand to assist the children to investigate a variety of "messy" play such as painting, glueing, drawing, sand and water. Other areas provide a large selection of construction toys, jigsaws, dressing up, home corner etc. Having stories and song time is great fun too.

The physical development needs of a toddler are provided for through play opportunities both indoors (music and movement) and outdoors (running, jumping, ride-on cars, chutes and climbing frames)in their own garden especially designed for this age group. As children are often toilet training at this stage they have easy access to their own children's bathroom which is designed with young children in mind. Our staff will work closely with parents at this time.

Our Pre-School Room

(3-5 years) is bright, spacious and well equipped to provide a stimulating and fun learning environment for 16 children, covering all aspects of the 3-5 years curriculum.

Glassford Day Nursery aims to have the highest standards and by providing the children with a wide variety of learning experiences together with appropriate guidance and encouragement, this allows each child to develop to their full potential, becoming happy, caring, independent individuals.
